About Me:
I’m doing a PhD in plant science at Bangor University in North Wales.
I’m a mature student – which means I’m older than many people who do PhDs and have had a career working on environmental issues in local government before I re-trained as a scientist. I never ever thought I would become a scientist, and I didn’t think I was any good at science or maths when I was at school. But now I think science is fantastic! -

At the moment I’m living with my brother and his family in North Yorkshire as all my plant experiments have been cancelled. I was living in Menai Bridge while doing my PhD and I will go back there after the virus pandemic is over. I have PhD work to do using a computer so I can ‘work from home’ at the moment.
In my spare time I am still able to sing with the Bangor Community Choir as they have moved their meet ups online. Singing is a great antidote to too much science!
On other days I am enjoying taking my sister-in-laws little dog Gracie for a walk.
